Our Projects
COmmunity Program - Kannai Nagar, OMR
Training Center
Shishu Shakthi has set up a training centre in OMR, Kannagi Nagar and around hundred children from this area participate in the same. Tuition classes are conducted through the week and the teacher’s employed are post graduate students from the slum whom have performed well and have shown keen interest in giving back to the society.
Community Engagement
During vacation period we ensure the kids are actively engaged in sports, art, craft, music, dance and other vocational training classes. We also ensure that the children attend 3 leadership camps a year, conducted in various outside locations like Coimbatore, Salem, Kodaikanal etc. This gives the children an excellent opportunity to experience and explore the leader within them and work in peer group that enriches their learning.
Nutrition & Special Education
Top 25 performers from the Community are also chosen for a special education sponsorship and are rewarded a sum of Rs. 1000 which will go towards their educational expenses.
We also have an ongoing Nutrition Program where children attending the tuition centre are provided with a healthy snack thrice a week consisting of banana/egg/milk/sprouts.
Other Programs
Rotary Nagar, Triplicane
Special Workshops
We are proud to be associated with Rotary Nagar Slum in Triplicane on projects in spoken English classes, dance and music training, excursions etc. The Rotary Club of Madras has been very kind to allow us to use their centre space for these projects run by Shishu Shakthi.

Sponsoring Student Education
We chose children who are orphans/single parent children who come from a very deserving background and study well and attend school regularly. We do a regular background check and make sure we receive the results of the students and continue sponsorship only if they meet our stringent criteria.
Other Projects
Some of the other special projects we do include sponsoring a recreational tour for the children, sponsoring a meal on special occasion, taking care of operational expenses for our center, volunteering /teaching at the centres. Do write to us at shishushakthi@gmail.com to be a part of the same.
