Our SUCCESS STories

B. Bhuvaneshwari

Meet the star of this month B. Bhuvaneshwari starting her 12th standard this academic year. Bhuvaneshwari’s journey has sure been a fight against odds. She scored a 412/500 in her 10th standard examination and we encouraged her to shift to an English medium for her last two years of school since it brightens her chances of getting into a reputed college. Her house in Vyasarpadi got burnt down in a slum fire and till today the family is living under a sheet of asbestos. They lost all their belongings in this fire. Supported by a single father who does menial labour jobs to make ends meet and bring a roof over their heads. This girl sure has the fire to prove herself and the entire Shishu Shakthi family wishes her the very best for her important academic year and we thank you all for your continued support without which deserving candidates like Bhuvaneshwari cannot have a chance at a bright future. Do write to us at shishushakthi@gmail.com if you would like to support more children like Bhuvaneshwari.

So proud of Bhuvaneshwari who has finished her under graduation and is currently working in the corporate sector, take...

Manikandan

Manikandan pursued a Diploma in Nautical Science from IMA, Chennai. He is from a very humble background, Manikandan’s father is a painter, his mother a home maker and housekeeper, and his two siblings are both sisters. While he was in class 7, he learnt about the coaching classes conducted at the Rotary Nagar learning centre and decided to give it a try, albeit reluctantly. More than the academics, Manikandan was attracted by the extra- curricular activities such as street play, dance, speech competitions, rallies, etc.

After a stellar performance in standard 10th, Shishu Sakthi Education Trust provided a full scholarship for Manikandan to study in MCC for his 11th & 12th. Shishu Sakthi also sponsored him for extra English language classes, and under the guidance of  Soundarya, Manikandan went from a boy who used to spend his time aimlessly into an adult focused on his career.

We might be under lockdown but this boy is still going strong in his work and going places. Wishing Manikandan @...

Keerthika

Keerthika was a student of our Kannagi nagar slum centre. She scored very well in her 12th standard examination and was keen to study further. Marriage loomed large in the horizon, but her mother was a staunch believer of educating and empowering the girl child and here she is starting her first year of college in MGR Janaki college. Thank you all for your sponsoring and generous contributions towards us. These sort of stories make us believe, that these small changes are going to go a long way in changing the entire society.

Bhavani

We knew Bhavani from her high school days and the college and then when she studied to join the civil services. (For those who missed her story earlier scroll below).Today we are so proud when she shared this clip of her from the newspaper. She is an Assistant Inspector at the Labour department and was a part of a campaign to create awareness of the importance of educating children. This is truly the beauty of life when such good things happen so organically and seamlessly.

Sometimes in life, something good we do might not show immediate results but over a period can grow to be something incredible. That’s Bhavani for you. Having known her for over 8 years and been a part of her under graduation, post graduation and special studies for government posting, Shishu Shakthi has been a part of her education for many years now.
Starting like a small sapling and growing into a strong Banyan tree who is going to hold her family together Bhavani is truly one inspiring strong woman. She is today been appointed as Assistant Inspector of Labour in the Labour department and is a confident young woman who wants to truly change her life and her family. We are proud of her and it’s meeting people like her which reminds us what an incredible opportunity we have in our lives to touch and make a difference.

Kanmani

Meet Kanmani(who we have always loved writing about). She is in her final year of engineering and was a top rank holder in school in her 10th and 12th standard examinations.

We have been sponsoring her education since 10th grade and it’s a pleasure to see her now ready to finish her engineering and take on the professional world soon.

She is a good artist, creative and loves to teach. She spends weekends teaching kids in her area and use the small funds she makes to meet her other expenses.
